Chaz Gagne was in Georgia for a meeting in Augusta and came back through Atlanta where we were able to catch up over dinner. What a blast! Cherish these moments! Realized our friendship is still going strong after 44 years! All the best!! - Hardie Jackson

More Great Work
If you are watching the World Series, you are once again seeing it through some of Jeff Silverman's cameras. His company Inertia Unlimited makes the super slo mo cameras that gave us this moment last year:
What I hadn't realized at the time is that Cleveland's Lindor (red shoe) is wearing a protective ankle pad made by Evoshield...which is the company that Hardie Jackson helped start and which recently joined the Wilson brands of sporting goods...
Class of '83 starting to rule the world...as it should be.
The full video (and many more) can be found on the IU website....

Reunion Practice
Kudos to Jim Wareck for starting the buildup to our 35th reunion at DA by heading back to Vanderbilt for their fall reunion events. There he connected with fellow committed reunion practitioners Rob Rigsby and Hardie Jackson!!! Great job Jim! When asked about the photo with Rob, Jim replied, "It was late..."

National Signing Day
It may come as a surprise that one of our classmates attended a letter signing for a talented high school athlete who is choosing to play college soccer at Vanderbilt.
Or it will come as no surprise when you learn it's Hardie Jackson's daughter who did the signing...
Time for John Houghton, Hardie, Rob Rigsby, John Sory and Jim Wareck to find some of those old stories and photos about her dad!!!

Spring Training
Hardie Jackson's company Evoshield makes protective gear for athletes. Based on the discovery of an air hardening polymer, the products can be quickly custom fitted. So Spring Training for Major League Baseball means lots of driving through the southern regions to fit each player on each team. Follow Evoshield on FB if you want more trips through AZ and Florida and pics of Hardie at work...

DC and Boston...and the IHL
'83 turning out at Deerfield Receptions!
Top: Welcome to DC to Scott Pryce and family! A brief stay in Brazil after his days in Spain didn't quite pan out for the family so they are in Washington now. America's got new talent!
Below: Charlie van Dusen attended the Boston event last night and enjoyed reminiscing about the IHL Champion Maple Leafs and his elegant (i.e. disputed) goal in the final game over Bob Fitz and the Canadiens.
Additional: Not only does the Stanley Can live in my office, I have copies of season stats from 1979-1990. In our senior year the Leafs and the Bruins finished the regular season at 7-3-1, the Canadiens at 4-7 and the Blackhawks at 3-8. In the playoff semi-finals, the Canadiens stunned the Bruins 2-1 and the Leafs handled the Hawks 4-2. In the final the Leafs won 2-1. Charlie's goal was his only of the season (unverified).
Top scorers in the IHL that year:
First Line: D. Smith (8), Ehmann and Esty (7), Jackson, Pauley and Piersol (6)
Second Line: Wolf (8), S Brown (7)
Third line: Rigsby (9)

Road Trip
Always fun to travel for the Academy, especially when I get to visit classmates! The trip ended in Atlanta, where I remembered to get pictures, so I'll start there.
After a fun DA reception at White Oak Kitchen (owned by Alan LeBlanc '80) a random group marched down the street to Max Lager's (also owned by Alan) and drank a single malt scotch toast to Jay and Mimi Morsman on the news of their retirement. LtoR: Clay Holloway '66, John Knight '83, Chris Murphy '85, David Van Riper '85, Andrew Hough '89. Murph does "logistics" in Atlanta area, Van Riper writes software for Suzuki and Andy is an M&A lawyer. Solid citizens all and lots of bad '80s memories....
The bleary eyes I brought to breakfast the next day were immediately cleared by the broad grin of Hardie Jackson '83. So fun to see him and catch up. He's in constant contact with Charlie Gagne and both are planning on making the 30th reunion...Hardie is busy as COO of a promising young company distributing custom athletic protection for all at Evoshield. (Note to self-lay off the hair gel...)
The day before Atlanta I caught up with Brian Steward '83, our award winning San Antonio lawyer. (Good to know there is help for us all over the map if we need it!) He's got reunion on the radar too. Also got a big bear-hug from Corby Snow '81
And people think working in Alumni & Development is only about eating shrimp at parties. Not true! The fried oysters and pulled pork sliders were delicious on this trip!.

That's the spirit!
Charlie Gagne took time to meet up with Hardie Jackson on a recent business trip to Atlanta. That qualifies as a mini reunion! Would be fun to post pics of more of these types of "meetings" as a run up to our 30th reunion June 14-16, 2013. Feel free to send them to jgknight83ATgmail.com...
Charlie works for FedEx out of Encinitas, California and Hardie is COO at EvoShield outside of Atlanta, Georgia.

#85 surfaces
This online class note just arrived from Hardie Jackson (who wore #85 for the Big Green football team that went 7-1 in our senior year). Great to hear from him - now trying to get an email address and subscribe him to the blog!
"Hello all. I feel bad that I have been out of touch with the DA community for so long. My re-entry has been helped by having two nephews now attending DA: Mac '11 and John '14. My family and I are still in Atlanta. Left the agent world two years ago as my quality of life travelling 200 days a year was not quite what I wanted it to be! Still love the business though and have my hands on a dozen or so MLB players. Presently splitting my time between players, a real estate development company I started (good timing) and a company called Evoshield where I am part owner. Hopefully I will be more involved with DA moving forward. Glad to be back!"
