Colorado Discovery!

Sometimes things just happen.  Take Paul Graney.  He was living in Groton, MA and his wife was working at Groton School.  He was able to connect with Chris Davey often and even played golf in the Gagne Invitational at Lawrence Academy and got to see Chaz himself.  Then his wife got the Director of Development job at Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs....

Fast forward three years and Knight is on the hunt for classmates in Colorado.  But Paul's address in the Deerfield database is still Groton so he flies below the radar (nice Air Force reference for Colorado Springs...) and isn't found until Knight remembers something about his wife's job move to FVS.  It helped that JK's neighbor in Denver has a daughter at FVS to get the wheels turning.  So through his wife, Paul is "found" and lunch is scheduled.

Fun fact.  Paul was a college hockey referee for Division 3 men's and women's games when he lived back near Beantown. That career ended when a falling players' skate severed all the tendons on the back of his left hand.  Five surgeries later, his hand closes but not very tightly.  Silver lining: his golf got better because of his lighter grip!

Great to see another friendly face and find a new golfing buddy!!! That makes nine of us in Colorado, I think.  And number ten is moving here in Spring 2016!  Stay tuned...

NFL Films: November 20, 1965

This, my friends, is 14 minutes of DA vs NMH football gold.  The greatest sports photo of the year in 1965 was taken on this day and is profiled by the NFL.  Enjoy!

Flagg'd

It's complex, bitter yet almost sweet, warming yet abrasive, with a twist of acidity.  Chris Flagg's personality?  NO, the delicious beverage known as the Flagg Day* at  Porchlight Bar in NYC. (271 Eleventh Avenue - at the corner of 28th Street). Porchlight is housed in an 1890s warehouse containing 1.2 million square feet of space (consuming an entire city block) that Chris's company has owned for 25 years.  It used to just be a warehouse, but a rejuvenation in this lower west side area is making it an attractive place to live and work.

Always great to see a friendly face when traveling!

Congratulations to Scott Chesney on his recent marriage to Chris Lang!

Looks like it took place at the fantastic Hotel Del Coronado near San Diego.

Oct. 15 will be Flagg Day in NYC!

Knight is headed to NYC for a long weekend.  He'd like to start it off with the class signature cocktail, the Flagg Day*, served only at Porchlight Bar in NYC. (271 Eleventh Avenue - at the corner of 28th Street).  It's namesake has agreed to appear as well but we would love to get as many 83ers together as possible!

Shoot for 6 pm next Thursday - at Porchlight.  As long as Flagg is present, Knight will buy you the signature cocktail or a beverage of your choice!!!

Stylish Traditionalist

Chris Flagg knows how to dress and how to spot a piece of history! He was up visiting his daughter who is now a sophomore and was just passing through the trophy room. I guess DA figures nobody would want to steal it...(That's the Stanley Can of the IHL for those who do not remember)

Positive energy

Leigh Guyer has always had a little something special in his personality.  Well, he'll get to use it some more even though he just had a heart attack and 5 stents put in (instead of open heart bypass surgery).  Congrats on a successful procedure and here's to many more days of smiles!
